That is the title of one of my favorite movies. I would love to watch that movie any day any time. All the - painful - incidents around Chris Gardner's life are so heart melting that I go into tears each time I watch the movie. I make it a point to watch it when ever I am down with my confidence. Gardner's life gives me a lot of motivation and energy to get back to work. I am very much in a similar situation and unfortunately at work, so cannot watch it at this moment so thought of writing this out.
While incidents in my life are not as painful as Gardner's, I still feel them painful. Sure, my heart is not as strong as his, I wish it was. For me, it is a game between mind and heart. I feel my mind is strong but heart is weak. One thing I have been working on very seriously in the recent years is to keep myself happy, no matter what. It has not been so easy, honestly. For me to be happy, it is not just me. Things and people around me are very much in it and some affect it. So, for me to be happy, all the time, everyone around me and everything around also must be.. but that is not the reality is. Such conditions never prevail for long. It has been very long that I am in the pursuit of one stupid word in life.. Happiness... it comes, remains for a while and goes off.. may be that is when I would know the importance of being happy :(
I am with a heavy heart now, as I am writing this, I am writing this just to make it lighter... once again.. in pursuit of happiness.. :-)

Tasks for software engineers in 2012 !!
Read More:
Just getting into a job does not end up things - as most of us feel ?? . It is very important for a software engineer, developer or not, to be reading more and reading new. There is a lot that is available on the web, it is just a matter of finding out what is relevant and what is good and read through. How many books have we read this year? Unfortunately, not many of us (Indians??) have a habit of buying technology books, am I wrong? we, however have a habit of collecting some soft copies and never open them up other than having a collection of such ;-)
Eating more, Smoking more or Drinking more might not be good to body.. but reading more is good to brain :-) so, read more.. happy reading !!!

Blog Blog Blog.. this is what I have been telling people I meet... this is the way you express yourself.. pre -internet days, it was just a handful of some authors who were able to express their feelings in the book they author and others just read.. web has given everyone a chance to express their feelings and gain larger audiences.. so express.. technical, non-technical whatever.. express... share.. it is very important for every one... you never know, your blog might land you in a new job :-) motivated????
Break the shell:
This is something even more important. Most of us live in a shell - INHIBITION??? break that please... be social.. choose right people, get hooked to a good network(s).. keep and eye on the network members.. as you grow you might be in need of changing nodes in your network and it is obvious.... also be aware if someone - who you admire - is pushing you away from theirs ;-) let there be someone for you to share your ideas, admire your thoughts, respect your actions else you might be in a crowd but still be alone.. :-) even lonely mind is a devil's workshop :P
open up... get going....
Learn something new:
Just don't be happy with what you are doing, may be a programming language you know, tools you work with.. whatever, get to some new things.. new things give new ideas. As someone rightly said, if the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail, add more tools to your tool kit.. they might help you in times of need :-)
For developers, I feel, mobile development is something that one should be on and even QA folks should concentrate on Mobile QA and Android, IOS and WP7 are the ones to look for.. other hot area must be HTML5.. in a way.. building HTML5 UI to scale on multiple devices.
Talk More, Talk Right:
Talking more is as important as talking right. Talking right to the right audience will definitely improve your reputation. If keeping shut lets someone imagine you to be an idiot, NOT talking right can prove it :-) so talk right !!! More good from you can attract people to you.
Live Confident:
CONFIDENCE makes a lot of difference and make sure it is substantiated with some decent and relevant knowledge :-) confidence without ability can put you into embarrassing situation ??
Set Goals:
Set some goals.. say read 2 books, learn 2 design patterns, learn tricks of writing clean code.. it can be anything.. set goals for this new year and may be post it on you desktop.. for reminding you all the time...
Write Code:

As someone said - A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself - or may respected by others.... now.. a programmer must code... write code.... and make sure write clean code.. and good if you have test cases testing it :-) a team lead does not mean one to stop writing code.. you don't have any right to review others code if you are not writing code yourself.. happy coding :-)

God or Devil ??
Something interesting strikes my mind and thought to blog... God or Devil.. what are we afraid of? may not be afraid.. what are we more careful about? I need a quick ans please... just one word GOD or DEVIL?
Every morning after I take my shower the first thing I do is, walk into the pooja room (place where God's idols are maintained in Indian culture ) and pray/request take care of my day. I never think of Devil and ask not to screw up my day :-) expecting God to take care of it ;-). I am driving on the road and watch a beautiful girl.. corrupted mind !! might force me to do some wrong thinking !! but you know what... a thought called "God is watching" and the a worry that God not take care of my day worries me more than my wife sitting beside me :-) might look funny but the fact !!!
Any ill thought that comes to my mind is wiped off by one thought that "God is watching"... is God really watching ???? Interestingly I never thought of Devil, did I? or do you ever? I am sure we don't unless someone is scared of dark and ever happen to spend some time in there.. :-) me... I am not scared of dark either.... meaning I am not scared or worried of devil but my from conversation above.. it was evident that I am more worried of GOD than the Devil.. hummm interesting analogy.. if I am understood right then not just me many around me are also more worried (rather scared) of GOD than the devil... interesting? foolish? funny?

I wish....
I wish I was able to clear off any part of my memory I dont want to be there and just keep what I want to... imagine a thing like that... amazing... who would not want it that way? I guess everyone... unfortunate.. we cant... but you know what.. god is a greatest creator.. smartest architect.. has used all sorts of design patterns and handled all sorts of conditions and made us and created everything around us.. surprised on me switching gears.. lemme explain ... guess we had a way to do what I wished to.. now I have a situation...
I had some great moments.. and that great moments then lead me to some sorrow moments... and now what should I clean off ?? do I clean off that great moments.. the happy part of life... would I want to.. definitely not, then........ should I clean off the latter.. but then I have to do the cleaning operation every day.. every moment.. haaa guess what I would be left blank.. race condition? may be this is the reason why we dont have that ability :-) haaa lemme think may be I need some more abilities. I should not only be able to clean up my crap but be able to clean up the crap from the heads around me and being the reason for my situation.. haa complexity.. we humans have a habit of making things complex.. so will my additional capability solve my problem? hummmm I donno lemme think.. who all should I clean now? I dont even know who they are.. god I need more things to add to it.. I want to read human brains now.. grrrrrrrrrrr haaaaa no satisfaction.. typical human... god.. tussi great hooo....
I feel god is selfish here.. If he had really given us all those crappy stuff may be we would never even remind him. God wants us to remember him all times at least when u r not happy - that is what most of us do though - remember poor god only when we r not happy.. bad humans... lemme go find solution for my problem... wish me great time ahead ;-) bye...

Ratan Tata - Business Man
Though India has a hand full of corporate houses or so called conglomerates, I for some reason always admire the TATA group, for whatever obvious reasons. And especially after Ratan Tata has taken the charge. His vision, His passion, His endeavor have inspired and motivated me a lot. If he was not in this field, probably, India would always be driving cars only made by foreign makers. Indian companies might have never even thought of acquiring foreign biggies... and many more would have remained undone...
Sachin Tendulkar - Cricket
Another great personality, India and every Indian can and should be proud of. His contribution to Indian cricket, probably, would not match to anything anyone has done to anything. It is all about his passion towards his profession, that has kept him unbeaten for more than 20 years. He made many youngsters feel embarrassed and even ashamed. Once again, his passion, his endeavor, his perseverance are probably un matching...

wow.. person whom I dream of every day, every morning, every night.. he is the man I wish to live like. The man who has inspired me the most ever in my life.. I think, why I am not born like him, or why was i not inspired by him in the early part of my life, may be I would have been even better. If a company has grown from trenches to the riches (third richest in the world in terms of market cap - >320B USD), I feel it is because of this one man. He is listed as either primary inventor or co-inventor in over 230 awarded patents or patent applications related to a range of technologies. Nothing can define him.. I don't have to say what made him great...
This might not be the end of the list, there are many more, many more who I am not even aware of.
So what I am doing with all this, at least try to do good in what I am, if not excel. who might have inspired them.. I dont know, but they might have inspired many.. I am just one among them... easier said than done.. let me do something.. taking leave for now...
